Mobile Communications - Qualcomm to Acquire Spike

Qualcomm has confirmed that it will acquire semiconductor design services company Spike Technologies for US$19 million. Spike with be placed under Qualcomm's semiconductor-producing CDMA Technologies unit. The acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval and certain closing conditions.
Headquartered in California, Spike currently runs a design center in Bangalore, which is estimated to employ 150 engineers. Spike's areas of expertise include physical design for deep submicron process technologies, circuit development, and design and verification engineering for pre-silicon design debug and analysis. Qualcomm has stated that the acquisition will shorten time to market for products in 90 nanometer and below process technologies.
